GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Senior sprinter
John Broaden was named the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
Broaden set the school record in the 200 meters at the ETSU Invitational with a 21.16m in the prelims and then went on to tie that mark in the finals as he captured the title. The Indianapolis native also ran the third leg of the 4x400m relay that took first in 3:12.31, out-racing the field by almost five seconds and the fifth-fastest mark in program history.
Broaden is the third athlete from Indiana Tech to win the weekly track award, joining fellow sprinters
Harris Edwards III (Dec. 7) and
Trevor Stanley (Dec. 14). It is the fifth time he has won the indoor award.
Broaden and the Warriors return to action this weekend when they head to Marion, Indiana for the Indiana Wesleyan Invitational starting at 11 a.m.
