Cruz Tabbed WHAC Men's Wrestler of the Week

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Indiana Tech's Johnny Cruz was named the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Men's Wrestler of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

Cruz wins the award after going 4-0 to claim the 285-weight class title and help the Warriors secure their fifth straight WHAC Tournament title over the weekend.  The Bluffton, Indiana, native opened his day with three straight pins, first over Defiance's Brilliance Swift, then over Kaleb Abad of Marian in his next match, and then the freshman made it three straight by pinning Ty Cobb from Lourdes. In the first-place match, Cruz won with a 7-2 decision over Siena Height's Aidan Mozden.

Tech now prepares for the NAIA National Championships, which begin on March 6. The Warriors will travel to Wichita, Kansas, to compete in Hartman Arena.
