JW Maierle joins the Indiana Tech Track & Field team for the first time in 2022-23.
Maierle spent the 2021-22 season as head coach at Indiana University-East, an NAIA school in Richmond, Indiana. Prior to that he was the boys coach at his alma mater, Warsaw Community High School. During his time at Warsaw, he helped produce 28 Indiana regional meet qualifiers, seven state meet qualifiers and an all-state honoree in just three years.
Between 2012 and 2017, Maierle served as an assistant coach at NAIA schools Bethel University (Ind.) and Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.). At these stops he worked with sprints, jumps, and multi-athletes and was the coach of two NAIA national champions, 29 All-Americans, and more than 100 national meet qualifiers.
A native of Warsaw, Indiana, Maierle was a multi-sport athlete at Warsaw Community High School before going on to a decorated track & field career at Bethel University. A five-time NAIA All-American in the long jump and a six-time NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association) national champion in the long jump and 4x100 relay, he graduated as the NCCAA record holder in the long jump and Bethel's school record holder in the long jump, decathlon, and heptathlon. Additionally, he was a crucial member of Bethel's 2009 NCCAA national champion indoor and outdoor teams.
