Tom Osborne enters his seventh year as the head coach of the men's and women's bowling teams at Indiana Tech heading into the 2021-22 season. During his first six years he has transformed the Warrior bowling program into a national powerhouse, both within the NAIA and USBC ranks. He has coached 11 NAIA-Bowling Coaches Association Academic All-Americans, 33 WHAC Bowler of the Week recipients, 47 WHAC All-Academic Team members, 30 All-Conference selections, five WHAC Newcomer of the Year winners, nine NAIA All-Americans, 21 NAIA Scholar-Athletes, four WHAC Bowler of the Year winners, one NAIA National Championships MVP, and five USBC Intercollegiate Singles Championships qualifiers.
During the 2020-21 season Osborne and the Warriors navigated through the COVID-19 pandemic and came out with the programs first red banner as the women's team won the inaugural NAIA National Championship while both teams won the WHAC Tournament title. Cory Hersha and Maryssa Carey qualified for the USBC Intercollegiate Singles Championships, with Carey making it to the semifinals, while the men's team qualified for the USBC Intercollegiate Team Championships and came up one win short of a berth in the finals. Carey earned her fourth NAIA All-American nod while being named the MVP of the national championships, while Marcus McClain and Jacob Balser garnered All-America Team honors as well.
In 2019-20 Tech continued to power through the lane, with both the men's and women's teams three-peating as WHAC regular season champions to host the WHAC Tournament for the third consecutive season. The women's program garnered a number one ranking in the NAIA Coaches' Top 10 Poll and finished seventh in the USBC rankings, while the men's team rose to number two on both the NAIA and USBC rankings. Osborne was named the WHAC Women's Bowling Coach of the Year for the third straight season and tabbed as the WHAC Champions of Character Coach while assistant coach Jeff Dreyfus was named the conference coach of the year on the men's side. Dawson Maier and Maryssa Carey were both named the WHAC Bowler of the Year and garnered NAIA and NCBCA All-America Team honors, while Jacob Balser was honored with an NAIA All-America Team nod. The teams were unable to compete in the USBC Sectionals or inaugural NAIA National Championship due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
During the 2018-19 season the Warriors had another banner year, with both programs winning repeating as WHAC Champions and hosting the WHAC Tournament for the second straight season. Osborne garnered his second consecutive WHAC Coach of the Year honors on the women's side while Briana Marquis was named the WHAC Bowler of the Year. He guided the women's team to a runner-up finish at the NAIA National Invitational and their first-ever appearance at the USBC Intercollegiate Team Championships, where they went 1-2 in bracket play after taking second in qualifying. The men had their first qualifiers for the USBC Intercollegiate Singles Championships in Keen Ching and Marcus McClain, with the latter advancing to the round of eight, while the men were the top seed heading into bracket play of the NAIA National Invitational.
The 2017-18 season was a historic year for the program as both the men's and women's teams captured the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) regular season titles to host the WHAC Tournament, where the women's team finished first and the men's team took second. He was named the Coach of the Year on the women's side while Maryssa Carey was named the WHAC Newcomer and Bowler of the Year. The women finished eighth in the USBC Sectionals and were first following qualifying at the NAIA National Invitational while the men were fifth in sectional play and 11th after qualifying play at the NAIA National Invitational.
During the 2016-17 season, Osborne led both the men's and women's teams to the NAIA National Invitational for the second year in a row while both teams finished inside the top-11 at the USBC Sectionals.
During his first year (2015-16), he led the men's team to a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Tournament championship as the seventh seed, defeating Lawrence Tech, Northwestern Ohio, and regular season champion Concordia to capture their first conference tournament championship in program history. On the women's side, he mentored senior Samantha Pasch to a berth in USBC Intercollegiate Singles Championship, the first time a Warrior bowler has qualified for the Singles Championship. The women would also finish third at the WHAC Tournament after finishing in the same position during the regular season, while freshman Annalee Sisk was named the WHAC Player and Newcomer of the Year. Osborne guided both programs to the NAIA Invitational Championships in Anderson, Indiana, with both advancing to the second day of competition.
Osborne currently lives in New Haven, Indiana.
