4x800 Relay Grabs “A” Standard, Sets Meet Record at Wide-Track Classic

HILLSDALE, Mich. – The Indiana Tech track and field programs sent a small contingent of athletes to the Hillsdale Wide-Track Classic Saturday afternoon at the Biermann Athletic Center.
 
The women's 4x800 meter relay of Angie Sanchez, Alexis Lombardo, Doshawn Franks and Lily Rothert won the event in a meet and facility record time of 9:42.31, shattering the previous mark by over 24 seconds and hitting the NAIA automatic qualifying standard. Franks also won the 600m with a provisional standard time of 1:37.87 in her season debut.
 
Daunte O'Bannion finished fifth in the championship section of the men's 400m with a time of 53.03.
 
Tech returns to action on Friday, February 14 as they travel to Grand Valley State University for the GVSU Big Meet. Action is set to begin at 12 p.m. from the Kelly Family Sports Center in Allendale, Michigan.
