ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Indiana Tech men's and women's track teams competed at the GVSU Extra Weekend Meet on Thursday, where
Mason Murphy and
Lisa Voyles would show out. Murphy would break the all-time Indiana Tech record in the hammer throw with a mark of 53.98m. He breaks the previous record of 52.67m set by Daniel Buell in 2021. Voyles has had a storied career but has been on an unbelievable run as of late. The Danville, Kentucky native set her third school record in the last 13 days at the GVSU meet. Voyles knocked more than four seconds off her own school record in the 1500m with a time 4:23.09.
Additional meet highlights:
- Krista Boese is just off her PR in capturing the "B" standard in the 1500m in 4:39.93.
- Korey Allen with a HUGE PR (9:14.46) as he knocks 30 seconds off his last 3000 steeplechase. He grabs the NAIA "A" standard, moves to #6 in the nation, and goes to within .35 seconds of the school record!
- Soyinne Grenyion grabs the "A" standard in 23.90 and goes #6 in the nation in her first 200m of the outdoor season.
- Diego Sekiyama-Nava runs a season-best 14.66 in the 110h which leaves him just .06 off the "A" standard.
- Soyinne Grenyion wins the 400m in 54.33 to set an outdoor PR and move to #3 on the all-time list. She's currently tied for #3 in the NAIA.
- Jacob Stetzel with a big PR in the 5000m, breaking 16 for the first time in 15:55.98.
- Victor Rodriguez clears a season-best of 4.70m in the pole vault to finish 4th in the competition.
- Deanara Mbouge hits a PR in the women's discus in 40.70m. That improves her all-time #3 mark. Freshman Raigan Horsfall makes her collegiate debut with a throw of 35.83m to join the top ten list at #8.
The Warriors will now look to the WHAC Outdoor Championships when they host the meet at Warrior Park in Fort Wayne, Indiana on May 2
