FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 16 ranked Indiana Tech men's soccer team hosted the No. 22 ranked University of Northwestern Ohio (UNOH) on Wednesday afternoon in what would be the biggest game of the season. The Warriors would enter the day in fourth place, with 21 points, in the WHAC standings, sitting just one point out of first place. UNOH, Madonna University, and Lawrence Tech University were all tied at the top with 22 points. In a must win game to stay alive in the title race, the Warriors would play like a team that had championship aspirations.
The Warriors would start off firing, with
Emerson Nieto forcing a UNOH save in the opening minutes of the game. Tech would keep the pressure on, rattling off four more shots in the opening 15 minutes. In the 37
th minute, the Warriors would jump in front, taking a 1-0 lead.
Filip Maksimovic would be credited with the assist as his shot was deflected in by
Liam Arthur for the goal. The Warriors would lead by one at the halftime break. Flipping sides in the second half, the Racers would now have the advantage with the wind blowing toward the Warrior goal. However, not even the wind could slow down the Warriors in the second half.
Gui Moreira would make it 2-0 for Tech just three minutes into the half, scoring on a beautiful curling goal into the side netting after bringing down a cross from
Andreas Michael. In the 57
th minute,
Fabian Hauer made it 3-0 on an assist from

Jahiem Rose and after some brilliant footwork, slot home a fourth goal, demoralizing the Racers and putting the game on ice with just over 30 minutes to play. UNOH would manage to deny the Warriors a shutout victory, scoring a nice free kick goal with just under five minutes left in the game, but the Warriors would take the victory nonetheless in an astounding 4-1 win.
