Brock Orlowski is entering his fourth season as the head coach of the Indiana Tech men's and women's tennis programs heading into the 2021-22 season. Orlowski becomes the fourth head coach for both teams since the program was restarted in 2006. In addition to his tennis responsibilities, he also serves as the Assistant Athletic Operations Manager, helping out the athletics administrative team in a variety of ways. He sports a 34-20 record on the men's side while he is 31-19 on the women's side.
Last season the program achieved new heights as the women's team went 17-3 and swept the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) regular season and tournament titles, the first conferences titles ever for the program, which earned Tech its first-ever trip to the NAIA National Championship. The men's team also had a spectacular season with a 13-4 mark and coming up just one win short of a trip to Mobile, Alabama. The 17 and 13 wins are the most in a single season for both teams. The men’s team had their first NAIA All-American (Juan Avellaneda) and WHAC Newcomer of the Year (Agustin Cortes Flores) while Vero Jimenez and Marianna Murcia were named the WHAC Player and Newcomer of the Year in 2021, also a first for Warrior tennis.
During the 2020-21 season Orlowski guided the men's program to an 8-5 record while the women's team went 7-4 before the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of the majority of the spring season. Both teams were en route to their best seasons in program history, with the men's team earning their first-ever mention in the NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll on March 11 with the 24th spot in the rankings, while the women's team was mentioned in the receiving votes section of the national rankings for the first-time ever. The seven wins complied for the Warrior women is tied for the most in program history while the junior duo of Alvaro Gomez and Alvaro Garrido finished the season ranked seventh in the East Region of the ITA Regional Rankings.
In 2019-20, the Warrior men went 13-11, the most wins in program history, and 4-1 in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) play, finishing second in the regular season. The team advanced to the championship match of the WHAC Tournament for the first time in program history before falling to regular season champion University of Northwestern Ohio. Four members of the team garnered All-Conference honors and two received WHAC Player of the Week accolades. The team had four athletes named to the WHAC All-Academic Team and two garner NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors.
The women's team went 7-12 (1-4 WHAC) in Orlowski's first season, winning the most matches in program history, and used a five-match winning streak to end the regular season and win their first-ever contest in the WHAC Tournament to advance to the semifinals, where they fell to regular season champion University of Northwestern Ohio. He had four student-athletes named to the All-Conference Teams while Abigail Spencer was named to the WHAC All-Academic Team and NAIA Scholar-Athlete Team. Vero Jimenez was named the WHAC Player of the Week twice as well.
Orlowski comes to Tech following a two-year stint at Huntington University where he served as an assistant coach for the women's team and a five-year run as the head coach of the Blackhawk Christian School boy's and girl's tennis teams. While at HU he helped the Foresters to a runner-up finish at the 2018 Crossroads League Tournament and a 24-12 mark over two seasons in addition to mentoring four All-League selections and four NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
At Blackhawk Christian he held a 70-25 record between the two teams and had the boy's team ranked as high as 27th during the 2018 season. Orlowski had four student-athletes named to the All-State Team and eight selected to the Academic All-State Team, while his team was tabbed as an Academic All-State selection in 2016, 2017 and 2018. He was selected as the Indiana High School Tennis Coaches Association Coach of the Year for District Two last year
A standout on the tennis and basketball courts, Orlowski was a state finalist for Byron Center High School as a senior and a two-time conference champion. A 2013 graduate of Kuyper College, he was a three-time letter winner for the Grand Rapids, Michigan school and a two-time team captain.
Orlowski also serves as a tennis pro at Empowered Sports Club in Fort Wayne and is certified by the USPTA. He worked as a middle school and high school teacher from Blackhawk Christian School since 2013 as well.
Orlowski currently lives in Fort Wayne with his wife, Abby, daughter Raleigh and son Lincoln.
