Coomer was previously the Head Tennis Coach at his alma mater, IU Southeast, where the men compiled a 7-12 record in his lone season while the women finished at 5-10.
He was the Head Men's and Women's Tennis Coach at Centenary College in Louisiana from years 2018-2020.
Before heading to Centenary, he was the head teaching professional at Southern Indiana Tennis Center, where he worked many top local players and was the director of the junior tennis program.
From 2011-2015, Coomer was an assistant coach for the University of Louisville tennis programs, working with the women from 2011-2013 and the men from 2013-2015.
Coomer helped mentor the second-ranked and ITA national runner-up doubles team of Julia Fellerhoff and Rebecca Shine in 2013.
Coomer earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Spanish from IU Southeast in 2013, where he was the number one singles player for the Grenadiers and was named KIAC All-Conference from 2009-2011, also being named the KIAC Men's Tennis Player of the Year in 2011, and winning the KIAC Tournament championship in 2009.
From 2012-2015, Coomer competed on the ITF/USTA professional tennis circuit.
