GREENVILLE, S.C. – The fifth-ranked Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team season came to an end on Wednesday evening at Sirrine Stadium in the NAIA National Invitational as they fell to Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) regular season co-champion and National Women's Lacrosse League (NWLL) National Champion and fourth-ranked Davenport, 13-10.
First-Team All-American
Alexa Winter led the Warriors with three goals in her final collegiate game, while fellow All-American
Kristina Scott added two goals and won four draw controls.
Tayler Campbell and
Dakota Dawson each scored twice while
Nicole Price tacked on a goal and caused three turnovers. All-American
Sam Vikstrom had a team-high six ground controls, three caused turnovers and three ground balls. All-American
Meaghan Eldridge made five saves in the loss.
The Panthers would get off to a quick start with three goals in the first five and a half minutes of the game, but the Warriors would counter with three scores of their own in a two minutes and 25 second stretch, with Winter scoring the first two and Dawson tying the game at the 19:25 mark.
Davenport would retake the lead just 53 second later though, but Tech would get goals from Campbell and Scott just 19 seconds apart. The two teams would trade goals over the next 10 minutes and head into the half tied at six.
Two goals in 53 seconds in the 28 minutes mark would put DU up 8-6 early in the second half. The Orange and Black would cut the deficit to one three different times over the next 14 minutes, but the Panthers would pull away with three goals from the 12:21-6:10 mark and advance to the semifinals of the NAIA National Invitational.
Tech ends their season with a 14-4 mark.
