ALBERT LEA, Minn. – The Indiana Tech men's ice hockey team fell to NAIA Division foe Waldorf, 6-4, on Friday night at Albert Lea City Arena.
"We played 20 minutes of hockey today and that was it," head coach
Frank DiCristofaro said. "We can't do that moving forward if we want to be a championship team."
Waldorf came out of the gates with two goals in the first 13 minutes of the game to take the early advantage.
Stavros Soilis cut the deficit in half with a goal at 14:58 in the first, but the host Warriors would score once more in the first and twice in the second to chase starting goaltender
Zach Larson as they took a 5-1 lead into the third.
Tech found its offensive grove in the final 20 minutes of regulation though, as
Jimmie Kotilainen,
Reed Kaiser and
Adam Jonak all scored to make it a 5-4 game with less than seven minutes remaining in the game. Waldorf would prevail though as they kept the visiting Warriors off the scoreboard while making it a 6-4 final score with an empty net goal at 19:50 to hand the Orange and Black their second straight regulation loss.
Larson and
John Slavik each made 13 saves in net for the Warriors.
Tech (18-8-2) concludes its season series with Waldorf on Saturday. Puck drop is set for 8 p.m. EST from Albert Lea City Arena.
