LIMA, Ohio – The Indiana Tech baseball team picked up its first series win of the spring on Sunday as they defeated the University of Northwestern Ohio, 2-1, in the final game of their weekend set at Racer Field.
The Racers scored their lone run of the game in the sixth with a two-out single down the left field line from Junior Gomez that scored Blake Maines, but that would be all that starter
Brandon Hillier allowed in his six innings of work.
Tech pushed across their first run of the game in eighth to tie the game up at 1-1.
Matt Bandor got the rally started with a two-out single before
Glen McClain drew a four-pitch walk to give the Warriors runners at first and second.
Tighe Koehring then stepped up to the plate and delivered a single to center that scored pinch-runner
Shoma Sasaki to knot the contest up.
The Warriors took the lead one inning later as they took advantage of four walks, one intentional, with Bandor drawing a full count base on balls with the diamond full of Warriors and two outs to send
Ryan Meisenheimer across the plate to make it a 2-1 contest.
Joe Pratt closed the door on the defending Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Champions with a three-up, three-down bottom of the ninth to pick up his first win of the season.
Tech (11-11, 7-2 WHAC) returns to action Tuesday as they travel to Campbellsville, Kentucky to take on No. 19-ranked Campbellsville. First pitch is set for 12 p.m. from HIG Field.
