Cougars Upend Warriors in Nonconference Dual

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's tennis squad dropped an in-state nonconference clash, 6-3, to Indiana University-Kokomo at Wildwood Racquet Club in Fort Wayne, Indiana on Friday afternoon.

The Warriors would trail just 2-1 after the completion of doubles action thanks to a victory at number one doubles by the duo of Maria Jimenez and Lydia Miller. The pair would improve to 3-3 together this season after besting the team of Adrianna Ward and Anna Boyer with an 8-4 final. The Black and Orange pairing of Kerigan Riley and Joselyne Bobos would be stopped with an 8-2 score at number two doubles while the Warriors lost by default in the third flight of doubles play to give the away side the early edge.

The Cougars would quickly take control of the afternoon in singles play, winning by default at number six singles and with a victory at number four singles. Reigning WHAC Player of the Week Maria Jimenez would then end the visitor's run with a double bagel triumph at number one singles to claim her 11th individual win of the year. Freshman Joselyne Bobos would bounce back from her earlier doubles loss to capture the third and final team point for the Warriors, which came via a 6-4, 6-4 decision over IU-Kokomo's Katie Hart.

Indiana Tech (2-10) is set to return to action Saturday, March 31 at Swinney Tennis Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana when they welcome in conference foe Lawrence Tech. First serve is set for 12 p.m.
