GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The No. 3-ranked and No. 3-seeded Indiana Tech men's lacrosse team saw its season come to a close Friday afternoon as they fell to No. 2-ranked and No. 2-seeded Reinhardt, 11-7, in the semifinals of the NAIA National Invitational at the Aquinas College Athletic Field.
The Warriors got out to a 2-0 lead with
Andrew Ryan scoring just 58 seconds into the game to give Tech the first goal of the game, while
Jace Childs put one in the back of the cage at the 5:49 mark to double the lead. Reinhardt cut the deficit in half with 13 seconds left in the first quarter, but the Orange and Black scored three times in the opening five minutes of the second to extend their lead to 5-1 with 11:19 left in the first half.
The defending NAIA National Invitational champions would not go down lightly though, battling back to knot the game up at 7-7 with 12:49 left in the fourth quarter. The Eagles took their first lead of the game with 10:35 on the clock and ended the period on a 6-0 run and ended the Warriors season for the second consecutive year.
Childs finished with two goals and two ground balls while
Andrew Neller had four ground balls and won eight faceoffs. Evan Shuster made 13 saves in the cage.
Tech finishes the 2018 campaign with a 13-3 record.
