Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Warriors Sweep Through Day One of Volley in the Mountains

MONTREAT, N.C. – The Indiana Tech women's volleyball team opened up its 2018 regular season Friday in spectacular fashion with a pair of sweeps in the Volley in the Mountains, defeating Truett-McConnell (26-24, 25-10, 25-19) and Montreat (25-9, 25-13, 25-23) in straight sets at McAlister Gymnasium.

Truett-McConnell got out to an 11-4 lead in the first set thanks to a 9-0 run, but the Warriors battled their way back to tie the set back up at 15-15. The two teams traded points, but a 4-0 run form Tech gave them a 24-21 lead while Aubree Eggers notched back-to-back kills to give Tech a 26-24 set one win.

Set two saw the Warriors start out on an 11-3 run while a 9-0 run gave them a 23-7 advantage en route to the 25-10 victory. Set three was a back-and-forth affair, but a 7-2 run put the Warriors up 22-15 and came away with the sweep in the first match of the year.

Eggers led all players with 12 kills and a .579 hitting percentage while Madeline MacDonald had 15 digs. Autumn Stokes dished out 20 assists in the win.

The Warriors second match of the day against the host Cavaliers was a lopsided affair as well. The first set saw the Orange and Black go on a 10-2 run to take a 20-7 advantage en route to a first set win. After another dominating victory in set number two, Tech held off a late Montreat rally in the third set to remain unblemished after day one of the regular season.

Courtney Mack had a game-high eight kills and hit .727 while Allison Cole added seven kills and a .385 hitting percentage. Madison Park and Stokes dished out 14 and 12 assists, respectively while MacDonald had nine digs.

Tech (2-0) concludes their weekend with a pair of games against Newberry and West Virginia State on Saturday in the final day of the Volley in the Mountains.
