CLERMONT, Fla. – The Indiana Tech softball team traveled down to the Sunshine State last week for the PFX Spring Games, where they went 3-11 over six days.
The Warriors defeated Calumet College of St. Joseph in their opening game of the trip in nine innings, 6-5, while they also defeated Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Ariz.), 9-0, and Saint Ambrose University, 6-2.
Emily Martin was the hero against CCSJ with a two-out double in the ninth while
Kari LaFreniere provided the offense against Embry-Riddle, driving in five runs on three hits, including a double and a home run.
Sarah Ratledge pitched a complete game shutout in the circle against ERAU, striking out five while only allowing two hits.

Ali LeNoue provided the firepower in the win against Saint Ambrose as the trio combined for seven hits and four RBI. LaFreniere had two doubles while Martin had a two-run bomb. Ratledge would go the distance in the circle in that game as well, allowing just two runs on four hits and striking out four.
Tech suffered a pair of one-run losses against Warner University and Indiana University South Bend, 5-4 (8) and 13-12, respectively. The Orange and Black had the game-winning up at the plate against IUSB following a two-out two-RBI double from Martin, while Warner rallied from a 4-1 deficit in the bottom of the eighth to come away with the win.
Tech (5-12) begins their home slate on Thursday, March 21 with a doubleheader against Taylor University at their brand-new turf field at Warrior Park. A ribbon-cutting ceremony and remarks are planned for 2:30 p.m. while first pitch is slated for 3 p.m.
