GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The No. 4-ranked Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team fell to No. 5-ranked Keiser University, 17-9, in the quarterfinals of the NAIA National Invitational Thursday evening at the Aquinas College Athletic Field.
The Seahawks' Kyli Towner scored twice in the first six minutes of the game and answered a goal from
Jordyn Brooks just 11 seconds after Tech got on the scoreboard to make it a 3-1 game with 21:43 to play in the first half.
Jennifer Banks scored twice in a minute span to make tie the game up a 3-3 with 16:32 left in the half, but Keiser went on an 8-1 run over the final 15 minutes of the period to take and 11-4 advantage into the intermission.
Bailey Childs scored with 21 seconds to go in the half to give the Warriors some momentum as they scored five straight goals, including two goals while down a woman at the 18:28 and 17:03 marks of the half, to cut the deficit to 11-8. The Seahawks defense tightened up over the final 17 minutes of the game though, allowing just one more goal to find the back of the cage while they scored six more times to end the Warriors season with a 17-9 decision.
Banks led the Warriors with two goals and four assists while
McKenna Mesclier and
Abby Barkdull also scored twice.
Mackenzie Barnes picked up four ground balls and caused four turnovers while
Bailey Childs won six draws.
Sydney Davis made 10 saves in the cage.
Tech finishes the 2019 season with a 14-3 record.
