FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's tennis team kicked off the fall portion of their 2019-20 schedule with a dominating 7-0 victory over the University of Saint Francis Thursday afternoon at Swinney Tennis Center.
The Warriors picked up the doubles point (NAIA switched to NCAA Division I and II scoring rules for this season) with wins at second (
Carolina Fabbri /
Abigail Simms) and third (
Joselyne Bobos /
Chloe Smithley) flight, with the former winning 6-3 and the latter picking up a 6-4 decision.
Simms would roll to a 6-1, 6-1 decision at the number one position in singles action while
Vero Jimenez won 6-0, 6-1 at second flight.
Elena Tokic won in straight sets (6-1, 6-2) at fifth flight while
Chloe Smithley produced a double bagel at the sixth position.
Tech (1-0) returns to action on Saturday, September 7 as they travel to Huntington University. First serve is set for 3 p.m. from Klopfenstein Tennis Courts.
