Warriors Fall to Cougars in Fall Finale

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's soccer team fell to the University of Saint Francis, 5-3, Wednesday evening in their final game of the fall semester at Warrior Athletic Field.

The Cougars jumped out to an early lead on the Warriors as Brey Baltazar scored in the 10th minute while Sarah Lewis scored the first of her three goals in the 29th minute. Tech held the lead in shots and opportunities, but were unable to capitalize on them like their rivals from Spring Street were. Dani Blagojevic put Tech on the scoreboard in the 35th minute as she took the long pass from Jordan Brown-Mundey and knocked into the back of the net.

Baltazar didn't waste any time in answering the Warrior goal though, scoring just two minutes later to notch her second score of the night to make it a 3-1 game. Lewis made it a 4-1 game in the 52nd minute with her second goal off the night with a header from a Haley Miller free kick.

The Orange and Black kept the pressure up on the Cougars as Blagojevic found Molly Ames in the 65th minute for her fourth goal of the season and the second of the night for the Warriors, while Blagojevic converted a penalty kick goal in the 90th minute for her second score of the night, but it came 14 minutes after Lewis had collected a rebound off the crossbar and buried the ball into the net for the hat trick to put USF up 5-2.

Tech finished the match with a 30-14 advantage in shots and a 15-9 lead in shots on goal. Christina Wynn made four saves in the loss while Blagojevic had three shots on goal. Kayla Saffran and Danielle Dunn each had two on net.

The Warriors conclude the fall portion of their schedule with a record of 2-6-0 and will resume play in the spring, which includes their rest of their conference schedule and the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Tournament and NAIA National Tournament.
