OLIVET, Mich. – The Indiana Tech men's volleyball team defeated Olivet College for the second time in as many days with a 3-0 win (25-21, 25-22, 25-14) inside the Upton Center Gymnasium.
Cameron Ternent had a career-high 16 kills while hitting .556.
Mason Milan had nine kills and seven digs while
Chandler Davis dished out 38 assists.
Joey Hermes had 10 digs while
Chase Christiansen had four blocks.
The Comets held the advantage early as they got out to an 11-8 lead, but the Warriors battled back to tie the set up at 11. The two sides traded points over the 10 points, but Tech grabbed the momentum with a 4-1 spurt to go ahead 20-17. Olivet cut the deficit down to 20-19, but the Orange and Black took advantage of three Comet errors and two kills from Christiansen to take the set.
With both teams knotted up at 7-7 in the second, it looked as though the set would come down to the wire again, but the Warriors went up 14-11 following a 4-0 run. Tech slowly built up their advantage to 20-17 and force the hosts to call a timeout. Olivet cut the deficit down to 21-19 and 23-22, but Tech held strong and used kills from Christiansen and Milan to go up 2-0 in the match.
The Warriors came out swinging in the third with a .355 with 13 kills and powered through with a 5-0 run to go up 9-5. Olivet came back to cut the deficit to 12-11, but a 7-1 run put the momentum fully on Tech's side to go up 19-12 before finishing off the sweep with a 4-0 run and an ace from Ternent.
Tech (10-12) returns to action on Friday, March 13 as they host NCAA Division III foe Milikin University. First serve is set for 7:30 p.m. from the Schaefer Center.
