LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – The Indiana Tech men's tennis team fell to No. 1-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College, 7-0, Monday afternoon inside the GGC Tennis Facility.
The Grizzlies, winners of 122 straight matches and five straight NAIA National Championships, didn't drop a beat after defeating No. 13-ranked University of the Cumberlands 7-0 earlier in the day, dropping just four sets in doubles play to go up 1-0. The first flight of
Alvaro Gomez and
Alvaro Garrido and the second flight of
Tiago Neves and
Brunno Storani both fell 6-2.
Juan Avellaneda dropped a hard-fought 6-3, 6-4 decision at number three singles while
Raybin Chan fell 6-4, 6-1 at the fifth spot. Garrido lost at number two singles, 6-2, 6-2.
Tech (8-4) returns to action on Wednesday, March 11 as they travel to Point University for a nonconference matchup. First serve is set for 2 p.m. from the Valley Sportsplex Tennis Courts.
