FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Fall sports will be played by Indiana Tech starting next month as schedules for men's and women's cross country, men's and women's golf, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's tennis and women's volleyball, were released Monday.
A decision on spectators will be made by early next week once the athletics directors of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) have determined a conference-wide policy.
The Indiana Tech Sports Information office will provide live stats and video for the following varsity sports, men's and women's soccer and women's volleyball, while the office will work with individual sports on the broadcasting of reserve/junior varsity competitions should spectators be prohibited at those contests. Additionally, the sport information directors will work with the cross country, golf and tennis coaches on ways to provide live coverage opportunities for their programs via social media and other avenues.
Information on spectators and live event coverage for winter and spring sports will be announced closer to the start of those seasons.
Cross Country
For the shortened fall season, both the men and women will be on the road for all four meets. The Warriors will open up their competition at Indiana Wesleyan University for the Wildcat Twilight (Sept. 11). A week later the Warriors will run at the Bullock Invitational, hosted by Taylor University (Sept. 18) and then start October at Siena Heights (Oct. 3). Indiana Tech will round out their fall slate at Lewis University on October 10. The Warriors are now under the lead of
Doug Edgar, who is still actively searching for more opportunities to compete.
Golf
Tech golf will have a slightly shorter schedule for the fall and different format for conference events. A one-day 36-hole WHAC Fall Preview replaces the three-jamboree and regular season setup from years prior, with the women playing their conference event Sept. 28 while the men's event is set for Oct. 5. Both WHAC events will take place at Bedford Valley in Augusta, Michigan. The men's only other scheduled tournament for the fall comes on Oct. 12-13 as they travel to Ada, Michigan for the Egypt Valley Intercollegiate hosted by Taylor University at Egypt Valley Country Club. The women will kick off their season Sept. 19-20 with the Beaver Fall Classic, hosted by Bluffton University at Bluffton Golf Club and Hidden Valley Golf Club, respectively, while they end the fall Oct. 9-10 with the Battle at the Henge, hosted by Grace College at Stonehenge Golf Course in Winona Lake, Indiana. Head coach
Kelly Mettert is still actively searching for additional tournaments for the teams to compete in this fall.
Soccer
Both soccer teams will play five conference games, all doubleheader contests, during the month of October, with Lawrence Technological University (Oct. 10) and Cornerstone University (Oct. 31) coming to the Summit City while the Orange and Black will travel to Siena Heights University (Oct. 3), Rochester University (Oct. 17) and Cleary University (Oct. 24).
The Warrior men will host Grace College (Sept. 12) and Lourdes University (Sept. 16) in scrimmages while the regular season kicks off Sept. 26 at home against regional foe, and former NAIA and WHAC member, Trine University. Tech's other two nonconference games have Indiana University East (Sept. 30) and the University of the Cumberlands (November 7) traveling to Fort Wayne.
The Warrior women get their 25
th season of varsity competition underway Sept. 24 as they host Indiana University Kokomo while their other nonconference match comes Oct. 19 as they host Olivet Nazarene University.
Tennis
Both programs open their fall seasons on the road against Indiana University Southeast (Sept. 18) and Huntington University (Sept. 18) at Indiana Wesleyan University in a tri-match. The Warriors then return home for two matches against Judson (Sept. 26) and Goshen (Sept. 28) before the women host Indiana University Kokomo (Oct. 10) to close out the fall portion of their schedule.
Women's Volleyball
The women's volleyball program will open their 2020 season at home in a non-conference tri-match with Huntington and IU Southeast (Sept.18) before hitting the road for another tri-match with Saint Mary-of-the-Woods and IU East on September 19. The Warriors will play guests to IU Kokomo (Sept. 22) before hosting Goshen (Sept. 26). They will round out non-conference play when the Warriors host Taylor (Sept. 30) before beginning a six-game conference schedule.
The conference schedule will begin on October 7 when the Warriors travel to Concordia. The team will stay on the road for the next two games. The Warriors travel to last year's conference champions, Lawrence Tech on October 10 and then travel to Rochester (Oct. 14). The Warriors will finally break their road games and finish out the conference schedule with three straight home games. First, they will play host to Rochester (Oct. 17) and then host both Concordia (Oct. 20) and Lawrence Tech (Oct. 24) to round out their fall conference schedule.
The spring schedules for fall sports, including the conference championships will be released at a later date. The NAIA recently set the new dates for the fall national championships that will now take place in the spring of 2021.
