CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Women's wrestling led early against No. 2 Campbellsville only to fall 39-9 in the end.
The match started off with No. 16
Whitley Blake earning a forfeit for five points for the Warriors at 101 before No. 11
Tehani Soares took the mat to face No. 3 McKayla Campbell at 109.
Soares battled but ultimately fell 10-0 to give Campbellsville four points.
Korigan Wilkey represented Indiana Tech at 116 against Katelin Barnett.
Wilkey was aggressive off the jump and led 9-0 before Barnett scored.
Wilkey scored four more points to win via tech fall (13-2) and gain the Warriors four more points to give Tech a 9-4 lead.
At 123,
Korissa VanOver took on Mia Rodriguez only to have Rodriguez win via fall in 49 seconds. No. 18
Charmayne DeLong then took the mat to battle No. 2 Katlyn Pizzo at 130.
DeLong fought hard, but ultimately lost via fall in 1:15.
Alexandra Mireles was next up for the Warriors to face No. 9 Randi Robison at 136. After two minutes,
Mireles fell via fall and Campbellsville earned another five points to lead 19-9 over the Warriors.
Ellyana Kuzma took the mat for the first time since an injury earlier this season at 143 against Emma Walker. Walker scored quickly and won via tech fall (10-0) for four more points to the Tigers. No. 14
Samantha Snow took the mat next at 155 against Kendra Thompson.
Snow had opportunities early before Thompson took control and won via fall for five more points to Campbellsville. No. 20
Catherine McNulty represented the Warriors at 170 against Cassandra Smith who dominated the match and won via fall in 36 seconds to give the Tigers a 34-9 advantage. A forfeit at 191 gave the Tigers five more points and the 39-9 victory.
The Warriors are back on the mat tomorrow at 11 a.m. against No. 7 University of the Cumberlands for another Mid-South match up.
