SOUTHFIELD & ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. – The Indiana Tech women's volleyball team defeated Lawrence Tech and Rochester University over the weekend, 3-0 (25-22, 26-24, 25-17), and 3-1 (25-17, 18-25, 25-12, 25-17), respectively, in conference action to come back home on a three-match winning streak.
Taylor Paul had a match-high 10 kills against Lawrence Tech while
Andrea Schriver had 12 assists.
Jacey Blust recorded 11 digs while
Madelyn Omo had three blocks.
Trailing 22-20 in the first, Tech stormed back with a 5-0 lead to steal the set that included a block from Omo to seal the deal. Lawrence Tech had the early advantage in the second with a 7-3 lead, only to see the Warriors come racing back 5-1 run to tie the set up at 8-8. LTU got back on top and led 20-15, but the Warriors came out of a timeout ready to play, cutting the deficit to 23-20 and forcing the Blue Devils to use a timeout. The Orange and Black went on a 6-1 run following that timeout to take the set that was won by back-to-back service aces from
Olivia Gessner.
The Warriors started off the third with a 6-0 run and never looked back as they pushed their advantage to 13-5 and eventually 22-12. LTU did make things interesting with a 7-1 run, but the Warriors stopped the bleeding to come away with the sweep.
Paul led the Warriors offensively again against Rochester with 12 kills while
Emma Westra notched 11. Omo recorded 11 kills and five blocks while
Andrea Schriver had 32 assists and 14 digs. Blust notched 25 digs.
Trailing 6-4 in the first, Tech went on a 13-0 run to go up 17-6. Rochester used a 7-0 run to make things interesting at 23-17, but the Warriors got back-to-back kills from Paul to take the opening set. Rochester started off the second set with the momentum as they led 13-8. Tech battled back to make it a 13-12 game, but the hosts ended the set on a 12-5 run to even the match up at 1-1.
Tech got its grove back in the third as they started off on a 6-1 run and eventually pushed their advantage to 17-7 en route to going up 2-1 in the match. The Warriors left no doubt in the fourth as they started off on a 6-0 spurt before making it a 12-4 lead and never looked back as they won 25-17.
Tech (20-11, 12-4 WHAC) returns to action Wednesday as they travel to Concordia University. First serve is set for 7 p.m. from Cardinal Fieldhouse.
