FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 10-ranked Indiana Tech women's wrestling team hosted the Warrior Duals and Warrior Open this past weekend inside the Warrior Athletic Center, defeating Brewton-Parker College, 38-10, and falling to No. 2-ranked Life University, 33-20, in an exhibition match Friday while taking fifth in Saturday's open tournament with 140.5 points.
Sydney Kutzke took second in the 101-lbs. division Saturday, falling to No. 12-ranked Katalina Bartelt of Life in the finals by an 8-7 decision and recording a team-best 19.5 team points en route to a 5-1 record with three falls and a tech fall.
Charmayne DeLong went 4-1 Saturday with two falls and two tech falls to finish third at 130-lbs.
Emma Jones and
Perla Ramirez both finished fourth at 123 and 190-lbs., respectively, with records of 3-2 and 3-3.
Riley Horvath and
Sharon Leon were fifth at 109 and 123-lbs. by going 2-3 and 2-2, respectively.
Whitley Blake and
Allyssa Pirro were sixth at 101 and 130-lbs. while
Shelby Cope and
Grace Doering were eighth at 130 and 170-lbs., respectively.
Tech scored bonus points in all eight of their wins against Brewton-Parker on Friday, with
Korigan Wilkey,
Korissa VanOver and DeLong all recording pins while Pirro and Alicia Piepeer got tech falls.
Tech returns to action on December 30 with the Ken Kraft Midlands Championships, hosted by Northwestern University. Action is slated to get underway at 9 a.m. ET from NOW Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.
