FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Women's tennis remains undefeated with a 6-1 win over IU-East earlier today.
The Warriors swept the doubles matches with
Abigail Simms and
Isidora Hrnjak in the number one position.
Simms and
Hrnjak won 6-1 over Eva Caballero and Linda Marino. In the number two spot was
Vero Jimenez and
Marianna Murcia and the pair recorded a 6-1 win over Ashlyn Hubbard and Camila Caballero.
Thaina Carvalho and
Carolina Fabbri took the number three spot and also earned a 6-1 victory to earn the Warriors a 3-0 lead after doubles.
Jimenez then went on to compete in the number one position in singles against Camila Caballero.
Jimenez battled through to in 7-6 in the first with a 10-8 tie breaker. Caballero came back with a 6-3 win in the second before
Jimenez took control and won the third 10-3.
Simms took the number two spot and competed against Hubbard where
Simms dominated with 6-1 and 6-0 victories.
Murcia defeated Eva Caballero at the number three with 6-0 and 6-1 wins while
Martina Borges played as the number four and won 6-1 and 6-0.
Ana Gomez competed against Linda Marino at the number five and won 6-2 and 6-2 while
Thaina Carvalho fell at number six in a three-set match.
Carvalho won the first set 6-2 before coming up short 6-4 and 10-5.
The Warriors are back on the court Monday, February 22
nd when they compete against WHAC rival Lourdes at 12 p.m.
