FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Men's tennis hosted No. 19 Grace earlier today and came up short in the 5-2 loss.
Alvaro Gomez and
Agustin Cortes played in the number one doubles position against Pavle Popovic and Facundo Paredes who won the match 6-4. At number two,
Brunno Storani and
Juan Avellaneda went to a tie breaker set against Max Rozas and Fabricio Galvin.
Storani and
Avellaneda took it up a notch in the tiebreaker set and won 7-2 to win the match 7-6.
Alvaro Garrido and
Jafer Infante competed at the number three doubles position where they fell 6-4 for Grace to lead 1-0 heading into singles.
Storani took on Rozas in the number one singles position where Rozas won the first set 6-2 only for
Storani to bounce back and win the second set 6-4. Rozas won the third set 6-3 to win the match for Grace.
Avellaneda took on David Sandi and won in two sets with 7-5 and 6-4 victories.
Emilio Bowen filled the number three singles position for the Warriors where he competed against Paredes of Grace.
Bowen won the first set 6-4 before Paredes took control and won the next two sets 6-3 to win the match.
Kayra Kargin competed in the number four singles position against Galvin. The first set went into a tiebreaker where Galvin won 7-3 to win the first set 7-6. He eventually won the second set 6-4 to earn the win for Grace.
Agustin Cortes played in the number five singles position against Ramiro Candia.
Cortes won in two sets with 6-3 and 7-5 victories.
Garrido competed against Popovic in the number six spot where Popovic won the first set (7-6) with a tiebreaker (7-4) and took the second set 6-2 to earn a win for Grace 5-2.
The Warriors are back in action on Monday, February 22
nd when they compete in their first conference match of the season against Lourdes at 1 p.m.
