CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. – The No. 5-ranked Indiana Tech men's volleyball team defeated NCAA Division III foe Wabash College 3-0 (25-18, 25-11, 25-15) Tuesday night on Chadwick Court to get back in the win column after suffering their first loss of the year Saturday.
Mario Capo had a team-best seven kills to go along with two assists, two service aces and seven digs.
Daynte Stewart had five kills while hitting .444.
Brandon Jones dished out 11 assists with
Chandler Davis having 10.
Joey Hermes recorded 11 digs while
Chase Christiansen had three solo blocks.
The two sides traded points over the first 15 serves of the opening match, but a 6-1 run from Tech pushed them ahead 14-8 and forced the hosts to call a timeout. The Warriors continued rolling as they extended the lead to 19-12 and making the Little Giants use their second timeout of the set while using a 5-0 run to make it a 24-14 game. Wabash fought off four set points to make things interesting, but a kill from Stewart finished the job as the Warriors won the opening set.
The Warriors raced out to a 10-5 and never looked back as they didn't allow Wabash to get to double digits until the 26
th serve of the set. A 7-0 run capped the win as Tech took a 2-0 advantage with the 25-11 win.
Tech would again race out to a 10-5 lead in the third set, but Wabash came back with a 6-2 run to cut the deficit to 12-11. The Warriors responded with a 6-0 run to push the lead to 18-11 and followed that up with a 4-0 spurt to make it a 22-13 lead before completing the sweep.
Tech (17-1) returns to action Wednesday as they host Goshen College. First serve is set for 7 p.m. from the Schaefer Center.
