Warriors End Regular Season With Win Over Cardinals

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team defeated Concordia University 17-10 Saturday morning at the Warrior Athletic Field in their final regular season game of year.
 
Abby Barkdull led the way for the Warriors with 10 goals, marking her 52nd on the year while also adding three ground balls and two assists. Faith Donally added two goals, five ground balls, two caused turnovers, and two assists while Noelle Ricci netted two goals. Halli Reinhard, Brooke Buhr and Dani Macomber all added in a goal with Buhr and Macomber dishing out three assists. Reinhard also picked up a team-high seven ground balls while Buhr added six and Madi Jarvis had five. Sydney Oberdorfer made eight saves in the cage to pick up the win.
 
The Cardinals were the first to strike, posting a goal at the 11:59 mark on a free position shot. Not long after, Barkdull got the Warriors on the board at the 10:46 mark before both teams went scoreless until 7:28 was left in the quarter when Barkdull did it again, giving Tech the 2-1 lead. The Warriors were on a roll, scoring three quick goals by Ricci, Barkdull and Reinhard, advancing the lead to 5-1. The visitors were able to put one more on the scoreboard, but Barkdull continued her tear, notching another one at the 2:22 mark.
 
Macomber got things rolling in the second quarter by netting one at 14:31 before Barkdull scored her fifth goal of the half and Donally scored her first of the day to make things 9-2. The Cardinals answered with two goals of their own, but it was not long before Tech returned the favor with a goal by Ricci and Donally to end the half with an 11-4 lead.
 
After the break, Concordia came out firing by notching three quick goals to gain some momentum. Barkdull ended the run by putting one in the back of the net at the 6:25 mark to try and gain back some momentum, but the guests answered again with a goal to cut the lead down, 12-8. The Cardinals were scoreless the rest of the quarter as the Orange and Black went on to score one more goal behind the efforts of Buhr. It was all Barkdull in the final quarter, scoring all four of the Warriors goals while Concordia scored only two goals and could not fight their way back.
 
The Warriors (7-5, 6-3 WHAC) return to action Tuesday, April 19 at 1 p.m. at the Warrior Athletic Field as they host Bethel for the first game of the WHAC Tournament.
