Warriors Can't Keep up with Racers

LIMA, Ohio - The Indiana Tech softball team dropped both contests of their double-header with the UNOH Racers on Tuesday evening at Racer Softball Field in Lima, Ohio.

Game 1 | Indiana Tech 4, UNOH 12

The Warriors started things off on the right foot, scoring the first run of game one as Emma Kelley grounded out to third base, scoring Maire Trouba. The Racers would tie the game later on in the third before Tech would extend their lead to 4-1 in the top of the sixth. Alyssa Fox doubled to center field, bringing home Meghan Berlin, with Fox later scoring on an error, and then Kendall Hornung scoring off of a Trouba infield single. However, that would be it for the Warriors in scoring, as UNOH erupted for an 11-run sixth inning, taking the contest 12-4. Hannah Middlebrooks pitched 5.2 innings, striking out three Racer batters.

Game 2 | Indiana Tech 7, UNOH 10

Indiana Tech again would start off the scoring, this time it was Kenedi Sullivan smacking a two-RBI single to right field, sending Hornung and Trouba home, making it 2-0 in favor of the Orange and Black. UNOH would respond with seven straight runs of their own before Tech could answer back. In the fourth inning, Berlin scored after Trouba reached on a fielder's choice, and then Hornung singled to left field, bringing home Trouba and Olyvia Notter, keeping the Warriors within striking distance at 5-7. The Racers would then hit a three-run shot in the sixth inning, making it 5-10 in their favor. The Warriors made a great attempt at a comeback in the seventh, with Notter hitting a two-RBI double to center field to make it 10-7, but it wasn't enough as Tech would drop the second contest, 7-10. Olyvia Notter pitched six innings of work, striking out one Racer batter.

The Warriors (20-21, 13-7 WHAC) continue their road trip, as they head to Adrian, Michigan to take on Siena Heights (21-16, 10-10) WHAC) today in a double-header with first pitch scheduled for 3:30 PM.
