FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech baseball team moved back over the .500 mark Wednesday evening with a 15-2 (7 innings) victory over Wright State University – Lake Campus at Warrior Field.
Kris Massey picked up the win after striking out a career-high seven batters over three innings and allowing just one run and one hit.
Tyler Stacy followed with six strikeouts over two innings of relief work and did not allow a hit.
Parker Bates with 3-4 with a double and two runs,
Tyler Stahl was a perfect 3-3 at the dish with a home run, a double a walk and four RBIs while
Aron Busick was 3-4 with a double, home run, two runs and four RBIs.
The Lakers struck first following a leadoff walk to Andrew Emerson, who came into the game with a .491 batting average, the second-best in the USCAA, proceeded to steal second following back-to-back strikeouts from Massey and was driven in by a Logan Garrett single. Tech came right back in the bottom of the frame to knot it off on a 463 double play that
Jayden Reed scored on.
Tech's offense came alive in the second with five runs on five hits while taking advantage of a leadoff error. Stahl, Busick and Pates all recorded doubles in the frame while
Luis Diaz drove in two runs with a single to left center to make it a 6-1 game.
After Massey struck out the side in the fourth, the Warriors added on two more runs thanks to a sacrifice fly by
Jacob Daftari and a bases-loaded walk to Reed. Stahl drove in three runs with a shot to Memorial Park Cemetery in the fifth while Busick hooked one just inside the right field foul pole two batters later to extend the lead to 13-1.
Tech (16-15) returns to conference play Saturday as they start a weekend trip to Michigan with a doubleheader against Rochester University followed by a twinbill at Cleary University Sunday. First pitch for both days is set for 1 p.m. from Bill Shinsky Field and Lake Trust Stadium.
