FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 5 ranked Indiana Tech men's wrestling team hosted Rochester University on Sunday night in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference dual. Tech proved too much for Rochester winning the dual 48-0.
Tech jumped to an early lead as
Brendon Mark won over Cristian Rojas via Fall in 2:24 to earn 6 points in the 125-weight class for Tech. At 133 lbs, Matt Gimson picked up another 6 points for the Orange and Black as he defeated his foe via fall in 1:02.
Kyle Kantola kept the streak going winning his match at 141 via fall over Santos Alvarez for another 6 points.
Nick Gates was the 149-lb representative for Tech winning via a 3-1 decision over Anthony Gonzales to earn 3 more points for Tech.
Elijah Chacon picked up the only tech fall of the night as he won 18-0 over Hunter Baker at 157 lbs to gain 5 points in favor of Tech. At 165 lbs,
Sam York won his dual over Julius Polk of Rochester via a 13-8 decision.
At 174 lbs and 184 lbs,
Griffin Bekish and
Eric Vermillion earned 6 points apiece as they won their duals via fall. Bekish over Jailen Tatum in 3:00 and Vermillion over No. 24 ranked individual Jerrod Mullins in 6:25.
Jacob Brandt wrestled Durell Kline at 197, winning via a 10-2 major decision as
Cameron Mayes-Butler finished things off for Tech, winning over Jackson Schenk at 285 lbs via a 6-3 decision to give Tech their 48-0 victory.
