FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- Indiana Tech women's wrestling hosted the first Indiana Tech Warrior Women's Open on Saturday at the Doug Edgar Indoor Track, claiming two individual titles, with 22 competitors in the field.
Andrea Hernandez topped the podium at 123, dropping Cumberlands (Ky.) wrestler Ivy Partin by fall in the quarterfinal round, pinning Campbellsville's Jacqueline Ghent in the semis, also by fall, and pinning Taryn Johnson from Missouri Baptist in the final.
Perla Ramirez also earned the top spot after beating Cheyenne Meade (Unattached) by fall, Delaney Dahl of Alma by fall, and Jaylen Hyman from Life University by decision, 8-1.
Tech closed out a successful event with several other top-3 placers:Â
Makayla Young, finished as runner-up in the 101 division,
Tehani Soares was second at 109, Charmayne Delong claimed third at 130,
Sam Snow earned silver at 143, andÂ
Riley Dempewolf finished second at 191.
