LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Indiana Tech women's wrestling team was in Louisville, Kentucky, over the weekend to compete in the NWCA National Duals, held inside the Kentucky Expo Center, taking place Friday and Saturday. The Warriors defeated Central Methodist 24-22 and Cumberlands (Ky.) 25-18 while falling to Grand View 26-17, University of Providence 30-15, and Campbellsville 30-14.
Tech started strong with a 24-22 victory over Central Methodist in their first Dual of the event.
Taylor Wilson won via forfeit at 101,
Tehani Soares and Catherine McNulty won their matches via fall, while Charmayne Delong and Samantha Snow won via an 8-4 decision for Delong and a 10- tech fall for Snow.
The Warriors fell to Grand View in their second Dual of the event, but Wilson, Soares,
Emma Jones, and Ellyana Kuzma won their matches via a 10-0 tech fall for Wilson, a 13-8 decision for Soares, a 10-0 tech fall for Jones, and Kuzma won via a fall.
Tech defeated the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) in their third Dual with Soares, Jones,
Aubree Kuhns, Delong, and Snow highlighting the Dual for the Warriors with wins over the opposition with a 10-0 tech fall for Soares, win via forfeit for Jones, win via fall for Kuhns and Delong, and a 10-0 tech fall for Snow.
The Warriors fell in their final two Duals of the event to the University of Providence and Campbellsville University.
Isabelle Silva, Catherine McNulty, and
Riley Dempewolf won their contests against Providence with a win via fall for Silva and McNulty and a 7-1 decision for Dempewolf. Young, Soares and Jones won their matches against Campbellsville via Fall for Young, a 10-0 tech fall for Soares, and a 13-4 decision for Jones.
Tech hits the mat again on January 20
th as they travel to Williamsburg, Kentucky, for a tri-dual hosted by the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.).
