Warriors Season Ends in Grand Rapids after falling in WHAC Quarterfinal

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Indiana Tech women's soccer team saw their season come to an end in the WHAC Tournament Quarterfinal at the feet of #8 Aquinas College on Wednesday night.

The Warriors came into the tournament as the #7 seed in the WHAC, getting in for the first time under second year head coach Andrea Gorton. They knew it would be a tall task against the #8 team in the country in Aquinas who was seeded at #2 in the WHAC Tournament. This is the second straight game the Warriors matched up with Aquinas after losing 4-0 in the regular season finale to the Saints. Aquinas entered the game nearly perfect with a 14-0-3 record only surrendering two goals to their opponents all season. That trend would continue against an inconsistent Warriors side who has had to deal with a whole lot of adversity on the injury front, who would be missing five players out with injuries and a few others battling through them for the game. The Warriors would fend off the Saints attack early, but Aquinas would find a breakthrough in the 14th minute to take the lead, also scoring just over a minute later to take control at 2-0. The Saints would add another pair of goals in the 21st and 22nd minutes and another in the 31st minute to bury the Warriors 5-0 at halftime. Tech would mitigate the damage in the second half, but they were just simply outplayed by a better team, as the Saints would go on to win by a final of 7-0. Alina Garcia and Jordan Kallet would register the only two shots for the Warriors in the game, while goalkeeper, Ursula Romero would make a career high ten saves in the contest.

Indiana Tech wraps up their season with an overall record of 5-11-2 and a 3-5-2 record in WHAC play, finishing in seventh.
