FORT WAYNE, Ind. – On Wednesday night, No. 9 Indiana Tech hosted No. 3 Lawrence Tech in a battle of NAIA top ten teams, that would have big implications on the overall WHAC standings at the end of the season. After multiple lightning delays and three hours and seventeen minutes after the five o'clock start time, the Blue Devils emerged victorious, defeating the Warriors 13-5.
Faith Donally got the scoring started in the game for the Warriors off an assist from
Abbey Wilson to give Tech a 1-0 lead. However, that would be the only lead of the game for the Warriors as the Blue Devils scored two goals to take a 2-1 lead.
Cece Mason would bring the Warriors level at two and after giving up a goal to end the first quarter,
Dani Macomber would then tie the game at three for the Warriors to open the second quarter. Lawrence Tech would take a 5-3 lead into the half. Four seconds into the third quarter, the teams had to head back into the locker rooms for a 42-minute weather delay due to thunderstorms in the area. After returning to the field, Lawrence Tech would score three goals and
Brooke Buhr would score one for the Warriors before enduring another 34-minute weather delay at the 8:29 mark of the third. After the second weather delay, the Blue Devils would outscore the Warriors 5-1 over the final 21 minutes of play, winning the game 13-5. Mason led the Warriors with two goals, with
Da'zah Regusters picking up the assist on Mason's second goal. Regusters led the Warriors in ground balls with ten, while Wilson led Tech's defense with four caused turnovers.
