DETROIT, Mich. – The Indiana Tech baseball team took on Lawrence Tech in a two-game series on Sunday after their Saturday matchup was canceled due to weather. The Warriors picked up a couple of wins with a sweep of the series, winning 3-2 in game one, followed by a dominant 15-0 victory in game two. Tech moves to 15-5 on the season and 4-2 in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play.
After three scoreless innings in the first game, the Blue Devils broke the deadlock with 2 runs in the bottom of the fourth off a single from Jason Erhardt. The Orange and Black took one back quickly, scoring 1 run. A
Jayden Reed single advanced
Trevor Patterson to second, but an errant throw by the Blue Devil shortstop allowed the baserunners to advance two bags scoring Patterson. It was Reed coming up big again for the Warriors, finding the gap in right-center for an RBI triple in the top of the seventh inning to tie the game at 2.
Brice Stultz put Tech on top with a single to centerfield, scoring Reed from third to give Tech a 1-run advantage.
Zach Zaborowski went the distance on the mound allowing 6 hits, 2 earned runs, and striking out 10 batters.
Game two was dominated by the Warriors right from the start, as they put up 5 runs in the top of the first inning to set the pace for the rest of the game. The Orange and Black added 2 more runs in the third and fourth innings and 3 runs in both the fifth and seventh innings.
Tyler Stahl went 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs and scored 2 runs.
Parker Bates went 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs and scored 2 runs. Stultz and
Jacob Daftari recorded two hits apiece with 2 and 1 RBIs, respectively.
Ryan Troxel got the win on the mound throwing 5 innings while allowing 4 hits, 0 runs, and striking out 6.
Tech travels to Marion, Indiana, for their next contest, taking on the Wildcats of Indiana Wesleyan University. The single nine-inning game is set to start at 3 PM.
