FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech softball team was back in action on Wednesday evening for a doubleheader matchup with Lourdes University (Oh.). After dropping their first conference game last time out, the Warriors would look to bounce back at home. They did so with a win in game one of the doubleheader, but fell in game two, splitting the series at one apiece.
Pitching would be on display in game one with both pitchers throwing the whole game for their teams. For Indiana Tech, it was Savannah Bravo in her 15th appearance for the Warriors. She threw her 11th complete game and picked up her 11th win of the season in the 3-1 victory. She had three strikeouts, hitting the century mark on the season, and gave up just four hits and one unearned run. Alyssa Fox scored the first run of the game for the Warriors in the bottom of the first inning on a double steal before Lourdes tied the score at one in the third. Kennedi Sullivan would drive in the winning runs for the Warriors in the bottom of the fifth inning with a two-RBI single to center field that brought home Katie O'Drobinak and Fox, who would both end the game with two hits to lead the team. Bravo would shutdown the Gray Wolves over the final two innings to secure the win.
In game two, Lourdes took control with a two-run double in the first to take the lead. Tech would score their only run of the game in bottom of the second on an RBI single to centerfield from Jordan Dippel, driving in Meagan Barton to cut the lead to one. However, it was all Lourdes after that as they went on to rattle off four runs in the third and another in the fifth to finish off the Warriors 7-1. Bella Brock and Barton led Tech with two hits each in the game. Carlye Walter picked up the loss, falling to 8-2 on the mound this season.
The Warriors now sit one game atop the WHAC standings at 12-2 in conference play and are 32-6 on the season, receiving 92 votes in the latest NAIA Softball Coaches' Top 25 Poll released earlier today. Tech will travel to Concordia University tomorrow afternoon for a doubleheader with the WHAC's third place Cardinals, scheduled for 2:30 and 4:30 pm.
