FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's volleyball team kicked off the annual Liz Lykowski Memorial Tournament on Friday in the Schaefer Center, hosting Goshen College for their first match and matching up with IU Northwest in match two. The Warriors displayed a dominant performance in their first match with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-16, 25-19) win over the Maple Leafs.
The Warriors were dominant against the Maple Leafs, scoring early and often, which allowed them to take set one with ease 25-14. Set two started with Goshen taking their only lead of the day before Tech quickly took back the advantage to close the set 25-16. The Orange and Black closed the match with a 25-19 set three win, in which they never trailed. Stat leaders for Tech in match one were
Noelle VanOort with 13 kills,
Madison Mayes with two aces,
Taylor Paul and
Jacqueline Allaway with 2 blocks apiece,
Andrea Schriver with 33 assists, and
Jacey Blust with 15 digs.
The Warriors showed their strengths in the day's second match, starting with a run orchestrated by
Noelle VanOort in the serving position. The 7-0 run saw 4 aces from VanOort and set the stage for the remainder of the match. The Warriors would go on to take set one 25-13, followed by a second set 25-11 win in which they never trailed. Set three was more of the same, as the Warrior's offense was too dominant for the RedHawks to handle. Leading the Warriors in stats in game two were

Noelle VanOort with 5 aces, also serving her first career ace as a Warrior, Freshman outside hitter
Lexi Cripe,
Taylor Sorg had 2 blocks,
Andrea Schriver recorded 35 assists, and
Jacey Blust posted 17 digs.
Tech is back in action for day 2 of the Liz Lykowski Memorial Tournament at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday as they take on Indiana University Southeast before finishing the tournament against St. Ambrose University (Iowa) at 2:00 p.m.
