SYLVANIA, Ohio – The Indiana Tech men's volleyball team continued its quest for another Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Tournament title on Saturday evening in Sylvania, Ohio, as they took on Lawrence Tech. After claiming the first set, the Warriors came up short as they fell to the Blue Devils 1-3.
The opening set was toe-to-toe as both sides struggled to find or keep any advantage that was built. Down the final few points, kills from
Raekwon Rogers and
Daynte Stewart helped lift the Warriors past Lawrence Tech in the opening set 25-21. The early stages of set two favored the Blue Devils as they watched their lead grow to as large as six points. Trailing 14-20, a 4-0 run from the Orange and Black helped chip their way back into the set, where Tech would eventually cut the lead to one. Another run from the Warriors, this time 3-0, knotted the game at 24, and despite having the advantage 27-26, the Warriors came up short as the Blue Devils took set two 30-28. The third set played out just like the second. Lawrence Tech established the first substantial lead of the set, 21-15, but the Warriors came back to take a short lead and then knot the game at 24. LTU prevailed in the set, claiming it 27-25. The fourth set was another tough battle. The Warriors held a narrow 19-18 lead, but a 7-1 run from the Blue Devils closed the set as they won it 25-20 over the Warriors.
Daynte Stewart led the side with 23 kills.
Mason Milan and
Jacob Carrico shared the most aces with two.
Armaan Dosanjh posted 42 assists. Defensively,
Jon Fonda had a game-high eight blocks, and
Mario Capo added eleven digs.
