SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team made their first NAIA National Tournament appearance on Wednesday afternoon. The Warriors earned the No. 5 seed in the eight-team field and were paired up against No. 4 seed SCAD Savannah in the quarterfinal matchup.
SCAD would open the game with the first goal just over a minute into the game.
Michelle Farrell would tie it up for the Warriors less than two minutes later. The Bees of Savannah would score the next four goals, before Farrell picked up her second goal of the game to make it 2-5 at the end of the first quarter. Savannah would add to their lead in the second quarter scoring the first two goals to make it 7-2.
Faith Donally would score midway through the quarter on an assist from
Brooke Buhr to cut the SCAD lead to four as SCAD led 7-3 at halftime. Farrell would complete her hattrick early in the third quarter, making the score 4-8, but the Warriors offense would struggle after that. The Bees would score five straight to close the third to take a commanding 13-4 lead. In the fourth quarter, Tech couldn't break down the Savannah defense, failing to score in the quarter. The Bees would add two more in the final period to finish off the Warriors and advance into the semifinal round with a 15-4 victory. Farrell would lead the Warriors with three points and four ground balls, while
Da'zah Regusters would pick up three draw controls to lead the Orange & Black.
Kat Hoff would keep the Warriors in the game the best she could making an incredible 20 saves in 54 minutes of action. Her 20 saves would set a new career high, surpassing her previous best of 15 saves in the WHAC Tournament semifinal game against Marian University.
Sydney Oberdorfer would play the final six minutes in goal for Tech and make two saves.
The Warriors finish the season at 13-5 overall with a 7-1 conference record. They would finish in second place in the WHAC regular season standings and make it to the WHAC Tournament Championship game, before making their first NAIA National Tournament appearance.
