UPLAND, Ind. – The Indiana Tech baseball team's season came to a close on Wednesday afternoon in Upland, Indiana, on the campus of Taylor University as they fell 16-7 to Missouri Baptist University in their third game of the NAIA National Championship Opening Round.
Game three of the Opening Round for the Warriors had a scoreless first inning, but then the offenses came alive. The Spartans struck first as the visitors, scoring five runs in the top of the second inning. Tech answered with one run in their half of the inning, but Missouri Baptist had another big inning in the third, plating four more runs to grab an early 9-1 lead. Tech battled back, holding the Spartans scoreless over the next three innings, during which the Orange and Black scored six runs to chip away at the lead. MBU showed why they were the top seed in the Upland Bracket, as their offense scored four more runs in the seventh and three more runs in the ninth to send the Warriors home with a 16-7 loss.
Patrick McGinn led the Warriors offense with two hits in five at-bats and two RBIs.
Eli MacDonald and
Alex Watkins also added two hits in their four trips to the plate.
The Warriors finish the season with a record of 33-24 overall. Tech finished third in the conference regular season with a 24-8 record and brought home the WHAC Tournament title for the first time since 2019.
