FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's basketball team played host to the University of Michigan-Dearborn Wolverines on Saturday afternoon, welcoming them to the Schaefer Center. In a tight battle, the Warriors would outlast the Wolverines and come out on top, winning 96-86.
The opening three minutes of the half were even as the two sides matched each other. A quick 12-point run from the Warriors over the next two minutes would give the Orange and Black an 18-9 lead with under 15 to go in the half. The visitors had an answer, though, going on a run of their own, taking a 24-23 lead with 10:40 on the clock. Down the stretch, there was little to separate the sides.
Jaxson Fugate paced the Warriors, leading all scorers with 18 points, but the Warriors would still trail 44-47 headed into the break. Out of the break, the Wolverines kept the momentum, extending their lead to 11 with 17 minutes to go. From there, the Warriors battled back, cutting into the lead and eventually taking it, 64-62, with 12 minutes to go. The two sides continued to trade buckets over the next several minutes, but down the stretch, the Warriors would take control, winning 96-86.
Jaxson Fugate led all scorers with 36 points, adding seven rebounds and three blocks.
Blake Davison added 23 points, five boards, and nine rebounds.
Steele Brasfield posted a double-double with 19 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists.
Tech moves to 10-1 on the season and remains unbeaten in the WHAC at 6-0. Up next, the Warriors travel to Defiance, Ohio, where they'll meet the Yellow Jackets of Defiance College on December 17 at 7:30 p.m.
