FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Commission Cup is staying in Fort Wayne.

Indiana Tech defended Shields Field Saturday night with a 32-15 victory over Trine University, giving the Warriors their second straight Commission Cup win and another strong result to start the fall season.

Tech set the tone early and carried a 22-7 advantage into halftime. Luca Hubley led the forward pack with two tries, while Noah Hughes paced the backs with two tries and a conversion. Hughes' boot was a weapon throughout the night, helping the Warriors control territory, apply pressure, and create scoring opportunities.

One of the biggest attacking sequences came in the 57th minute. Hughes delivered a well-placed kick pass to Keith Butler, who helped secure quick ball at the breakdown. From the ensuing ruck, Jonathon Holly hit the line and was driven over the try line by Alek Gensic to finish the scoring move.

The Warriors stayed composed down the stretch and closed out the 32-15 victory in front of a huge home crowd.

Saturday's matchup marked the second annual Commission Cup, a traveling trophy contested between Indiana Tech and Trine and created by local rugby supporters to celebrate the growth of the college game in Northeast Indiana. After becoming the Cup's first holders in 2025, the Warriors made sure it stayed home for another year.

Indiana Tech now turns its attention to Big Rivers Rugby Conference play. The Warriors return to Shields Field on Saturday, Sept. 19, to host Thomas More University at 3 p.m.
