Brent Alwine

Associate Head Coach Brent Alwine enters his 6th season with the Indiana Tech Warriors. Alwine handles the vast majority of the recruiting while also working with infielders and hitters. The Warriors held a .965 team fielding percentage and a .311 team batting average, ranking 26th and 47th in the nation, respectively. Alwine has coached 7 – 1st Team All WHAC players, 4 – WHAC Gold Glove players, and 9 – 2nd Team All WHAC players. Alwine has had 27 players sign professional contracts with three of those making it to the MLB; Darin Ruf, Ty Blach, and Elliot Soto.  Prior to Indiana Tech, Alwine was an Associate Scout for the Texas Rangers from 2013 to 2018. He was also the Director of Prep Baseball Report Michigan from 2013 to 2014. He previously coached collegiately at Western Michigan University where he was assistant coach and recruiting coordinator from 2010-2012. In 2012, WMU returned to the MAC tournament and finished with the best conference record over .500 since 2006.  
Prior to WMU, Alwine coached at Creighton. At Creighton, Alwine worked with hitters and outfielders, and also oversaw the Bluejay baseball camps. Creighton had winning seasons during both of Alwine's years there, and he worked with a total of three MLB draftees and a fourth player who signed an MLB contract as a free agent. 

Prior to going to Omaha, Alwine coached at IPFW during the 2007 and 2008 seasons, helping Gernon transition IPFW from an independent to a member of the Summit League. While there, he worked with the hitters and infielders. He was an assistant coach in IPFW's first year in conference play where he worked with one All-Summit League player and a Ping Freshman All-American. 

A four-year starter in the infield, Alwine played under Gernon at IPFW from 2003-06 and concluded an impressive playing career with a .311 career batting average and a .951 fielding percentage. 

In July of 2008, Alwine coached a team in Puerto Rico, as part of Coast to Coast Baseball. He also spent the 2006 and 2007 summer as a baseball instructor at Camp Greylock where he worked under Bob Morgan retired head baseball coach from Indiana University. Alwine graduated from IPFW in 2006 and earned a master’s degree from IPFW in 2009. He is married to the former Brandi Alspach, they have three sons Beckett, Bode, and Brooks.
