@INTechMSoccer Win Third Straight, Down Concordia 3-2

Box Score ANN ARBOR, Mich.—The Indiana Tech men's soccer team won their third straight game, two WHAC games with a 3-2 victory over Concordia on Saturday afternoon at Rummel Field. The loss drops the Cardinals to 5-9-1 overall and 2-5 in conference play with the Warriors moving to 8-4-1 overall and 2-3 in the WHAC.

It was a back and forth first half with each team netting a goal in the period. The Cardinals got on the board first with a goal from Cory Briggs who took a corner kick at the 4:42 mark that bounced off a defender and into the net for the 1-0 lead. In the 36th minute, the Warriors scored the equalizer on a header by Zachary St. Aubin off a centering pass from Tim Short.

Tech was outshot in the first half, 8-5 but matched CU in shots on frame as each team put three on goal, with each keeper making two saves.

It was a slow moving second half as it took 25 minutes before the Orange and Black took a 2-1 lead in the 70th minute off the foot of Stuart Mitchell. Reece Richardson boomed a goal kick down the field and Mitchell beat the defense to chase it down and net the go-ahead goal. Just two minutes late, Robbie Kiernan extended the Warriors lead as he capitalized on a misplay by Concordia's keeper Austin Valentine.

Briggs cut the lead to one in the 85th minute scoring his second goal of the game. The Cardinals couldn't get the equalizer in the final minutes, giving Tech the 3-2 win.

Tech won despite being outshot 21-16 and giving the Cardinals eight corner kicks to just four for the Warriors. Both teams put eight shots on frame and each keeper made five saves.

The Warriors host another WHAC opponent on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 2:30 p.m. when Aquinas (RV) comes to Fort Wayne.
