Box Score FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The Indiana Tech men's soccer team had its three game win-streak snapped on Saturday, losing 4-3 to Aquinas. It was senior day at Warrior Field but the Warriors couldn't pull out a win, falling to 8-5-1 on the season and 2-4 in conference play.

It didn't take long for the wet conditions to come into play on the chilly afternoon. Just five minutes into the game, Aldony Mendez possessed the ball into the 18-yard box and sent a chip towards the goal from the near side. Warriors' keeper, senior Reece Richardson had the ball slip through his fingers and into the net for the 1-0 Saints (12-3, 4-3) lead.

It took some time but the Warriors eventually got the equalizer in the 23rd minute on a penalty kick off the foot of Robbie Kiernan. Adam Knight beat the defense and sent a service into the box where Zachary St. Aubin was undercut, leading to the PK and the 1-1 tie.

It looked as though we'd go to the break tied at one, but in the 43rd minute Michael Gagnon sent a cross from the far side of the field to the back post where Peter Brandenburg was waiting to head the ball into the net for the 2-1 lead.

The Saints held the advantage in shots, 9-3, and in shots on frame, 3-2 while both keepers recorded one save. Aquinas held the 3-1 edge in corner kicks while the Warriors were more aggressive, tallying five fouls to just one for the Saints.

Twelve minutes into the half, the Saints extended their lead as Mendez beat his defender in a one-v-one situation and fired a shot to the lower left corner for his second goal of the game, but he wasn't done. Mendez netted a hat trick with an incredible goal in which he chipped the ball over the head over Richardson and watched it bounce into the goal for a 4-1 lead.

The Warriors didn't fold though as Bernard Wilson tallied his first goal of the season. Knight found Wilson about 25 yards away and Wilson fired a shot through the defense and just inside the far post for Tech's second goal of the game.

The Orange and Black tried to make a valiant comeback netting another goal with 1:42 remaining as Knight bent a ball just inside the far post to cut the lead to 4-3. However, time was not on the Warriors side as Tech's furious run was stopped short, falling 4-3.

Aquinas outshot Tech 16-6 for the contest including a 9-5 margin in shots on frame. Richardson made five saves while Demshuk stopped two. Aquinas attempted seven corner kicks compared to two for the Warriors.

Tech returns to the pitch on Wednesday, Oct. 23 to close out their home season with a 4 p.m. match against Lawrence Tech.
