@INTechMSoccer Drops Fourth Striaght, Lose 1-0 to Marygrove

Box Score FORT WAYNE, Ind. –The Indiana Tech men's soccer team suffered their fourth straight loss and second shutout on Wednesday night, falling 1-0 to Marygrove. The Warriors fall to 5-4-1 in 2013 and 0-3 in conference play while the Mustangs move to 7-3 overall and 2-1 in WHAC play.

The Mustangs drew first blood in a slow first half, scoring with nine minutes left to play in the first half off the foot of Jad El-Zein. The Warriors defense failed to clear the ball and El-Zein was there to field the ball and bent the ball around Tech keeper Reece Richardson, who came out to gather the ball, for his ninth goal of the season and second in as many games.

Richardson's aggressive play paid off early in the half, stopping a point blank shot, but cost him later and led to the 1-0 deficit at the half. Marygrove tallied 10 shots in the period with three on frame while Tech got off just two shots, one on frame. Each team had two corner kicks while Richardson made two saves and Levanno Lewis of the Mustangs made the only save he needed to.

In the 69th minute the Warriors had their best shot of the game as Zachary St. Aubin stopped a Mustang clearing attempt, however, his shot sailed just over the crossbar, denying Tech the equalizer.

Each team had numerous chances throughout the second period, however, neither team could capitalize and the El-Zein goal late in the first half was the difference.

It was a much more even second half as both teams took eight shots, with the Warriors getting two on frame while the Mustangs sent just one on goal. The teams finished with four corner kicks each while Richardson and Lewis each tallied three saves as well.

The Warriors return to the pitch on Saturday, Oct. 5 when they host Cleary at 3 p.m.
