Box Score FORT WAYNE, Ind.—The Indiana Tech men's soccer team recorded their first conference win of 2013 with a 4-1 victory over Siena Heights on Wednesday night at Warrior Field. The Warriors move to 7-3-1 on the season and 1-3 in the WHAC while the Saints fall to 5-7-1 in 2013 including a 2-4 mark in conference play.

The Warriors were off to a terrific start as they were able to keep the ball in the Siena Heights defensive end for the first 10 minutes of the game. Adam Knight tried to break the ice with shot just seven minutes in, but the Saints freshman goalkeeper, Brandon Gonzalez, came up with a nice save. Just moments later, Gonzalez made a freshman mistake as he passed the ball right into the feet of Zachary St. Aubin who was able to beat the goal keeper on the right side for the 1-0 lead.

Less than a minute later the Saints defense fouled the Warriors in the box resulting in a penalty kick. Robbie Kiernan took the kick and was able to again beat the keeper on his right side putting the Warriors up 2-0.

Tech ended the first half with eight shots and Reece Richardson made two saves. The Saints shot six times and Gonzalez had two saves. The Warriors also had four corner kick opportunities compared to the Saints one.

The second half was off to a slow start for both teams as both were unable to control the ball in the midfield until the 58th minute when the Saints Bryant White sent a ball into the six-yard box from the far side of the field, finding the feet of Clayton Tomczyk who was able to beat Richardson, on his back side to slim the Warriors lead to one, 2-1.

The Saints were able to make numerous chances for themselves but could not make the last pass in the final third of the field making it easy on the Warrior defenders. The Warriors didn't really gain possession of the ball until the 80th minute. Tech's Knight was able to shake the boots off one of the Saints defenders then nailed a shot into the upper 90 putting the Warriors back up by two, 3-1.

In the 88th minute the Warriors were able to defend the Saints transition and were off to a quick break away, attacking with numbers, Knight sent the ball to Stuart Mitchell who found Braden Walker for a soft, one-touch goal and extending the margin of victory to three, 4-1.

The Warriors outshot the Saints 16-10 in the game with a wide 11-4 margin in shots on goal. Richardson made three saves in the contest while Gonzales made seven. Each team tallied four corner kicks with Tech not attempting one in the second period.

Tech will return to the pitch on Saturday, Oct. 12 when they travel to Ann Arbor, Mich. to face Concordia at 2:30 p.m.
