Kelsey Fitzpatrick, the Indiana Tech volleyball team swept Lawrence Tech in the first round of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Tournament, 3-0 (25-21, 25-15, 25-20), on Wednesday night at the Schaefer Center.
The Warriors (12-22, 6-6) jumped out to a fast start, taking a 4-1 lead over the Blue Devils (7-19, 2-10) in the first set and never looked back, as Tech never trailed in the three sets. The closest set was the first. After the Warriors took a 20-13 lead they were outscored 8-5 over the next 13 points, but finished the set with a Taylor Kill for the 25-21 victory.
Taylor led all players with her 10 kills while hitting .250 in the match. She also tallied a service ace, two digs and a block assist in the match.
Stacy Nagy added nine kills, hitting .381 while
Katelyn St. Martin chipped in with eight kills and a .316 percentage.
Fitzpatrick tallied 22 assists to lead Tech while
Alexandra Roberts added 15.
Taylor Kelso continued her solid play on defense for the Orange and Black as she made 17 digs to lead all players. The Warriors also tallied nine blocks, with
Shanice Richards leading the way with two solo and two block assists.
The Warriors advance to the WHAC Quarterfinals on Friday, Nov. 15 when they face the top seed in fourth-ranked Madonna in Livonia, Mich. at noon.
